Project description
Improving acoustics with little effort
In spring 2022, individual components of the existing sound system of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Guendlkofen, Germany were replaced by PHOENIX Professional Audio with new audio components from the own brand Phoenix Professional Audio.
The aim of the church sound system project was to improve the acoustics in the church with little effort: Thus, the church amplifier was replaced using the existing loudspeakers and the room acoustics were re-measured by the Phoenix PA team.
The digital automatic mixing amplifier PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X with Class-D power amplifier was used. The automatic mixer from Phoenix is specially designed for sound transmission in acoustically challenging rooms such as churches and is equipped with the latest technology: The integrated DeEsser dynamically dampens “SSS” and sibilants) and the built-in Compressor-Expander function is used for dynamic processing of audio signals and recordings. The new amplifier ensures more precise room equalization and excellent adaptation to the room acoustics in the Church.
The UHF wireless microphone system was also renewed: An analog 2-channel handheld/bodypack transmitter set with UHF receiver from MIPRO” was used for this (Phoenix PA is an official MIPRO sales partner).
With the exception of the new dynamic microphone on the priest’s seat ME-4 s from Phoenix, the existing microphones on the ambo and altar were also used.
Since individual loudspeaker cables were present, a separate equalization of the monitor loudspeakers in the altar area was also implemented.
Little effort – big effect: Just by specifically replacing just a few components of the existing sound system, such as the amplifier and the UHF wireless microphone system, an astonishing acoustic improvement was achieved in St. Peter’s Church.
