Project description
Renewal of the sound system after renovation
As part of an extensive renovation in 2022/2023, the pilgrimage church “Mariae Unbefleckte Empfaengnis” in Jenkofen (Landshut district / Germany) was equipped with a new sound system in spring 2023 by PHOENIX Professional Audio:
The passive K4 directional sound columns form the main sound system in the church. The newly developed K4 sound columns are a combination of highly efficient neodymium tweeter spherical dome systems in the HF frequency range and specially spaced 3.5″ broadband chassis in the LF/MF frequency range and ensure better speech intelligibility during church services.
The passive loudspeakers in the K4 series are powered by the DSP-controlled digital automatic mixer amplifier PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X with Class-D power amplifier. The automatic mixer from Phoenix is specially developed for sound transmission in acoustically challenging rooms such as churches and is equipped with the latest technologies: The integrated DeEsser dynamically dampens “SSS” and sibilants) and the built-in Compressor-Expander function is used for dynamic processing of audio signals and recordings. The new amplifier ensures more precise room equalization and excellent adaptation to the room acoustics in the Jenkofer church.
To ensure that the new loudspeaker system can also be heard well by people with hearing impairments, the main sound system was supplemented by a new induction loop, which was installed in the church. The ILA-450 induction loop amplifier was installed for this purpose.
“MEG” and “MEX” gooseneck microphones from Phoenix were used at the altar and on the gallery.
The church also received a new UHF wireless microphone system for flexible use during services: A 2-channel handheld/bodypack transmitter set with UHF receiver from “MIPRO” was used for this purpose (Phoenix PA is an official MIPRO sales partner).
The Phoenix team, which has specialized in church sound systems for over 20 years, also took care of the measurement, leveling, room equalization and programming of the new sound system.
