Project description
Church sound reinforcement
The St. Andreas Parish Church, a Gothic hall church in Trostberg in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein, was equipped in 2019 by PHOENIX Professional Audio with a new sound system from its own brand Phoenix Professional Audio:
In the church, which was built mainly in the Gothic style in the 15th century, passive K4 directional sound columns with 3.5″ neodymium chassis form the main sound system. Loudspeakers equipped with neodymium magnets have a far better efficiency than loudspeakers with conventional ferrite magnets and thus generate a higher sound pressure and better intelligibility. The systems offer maximum speech intelligibility during church services and a first-class sound when playing music.
The passive speakers of the K4 series are powered by the DSP-controlled digital automatic mixer amplifier POWERVOICE PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X. The high-end automatic mixers in the Phoenix POWEVOICE series are specially developed for use in acoustically demanding buildings (building acoustics). The system amplifier used in the Trostberg church is equipped with high-quality technical features such as DSP4, 2 x digital power amplifier (Class-D), phantom power, HPF filter (100Hz), MIC.-LINE, digital automatic system, audio matrix, conference configuration / priority, dynamic Compressor-Expander-Limiter function, DeEsser and MP3 player with BT receiver.
The compact subwoofer DAS-1000A in minimalistic-modern design blends harmoniously into the church environment and provides pleasant bass accompaniment when playing music.
An ever-increasing number of people in churches are dependent on the help of an inductive hearing system. To ensure that the new loudspeaker system can also be heard well by people with hearing impairments, the main sound system was supplemented by a new induction loop, which was installed in the church of St. Andreas. The induction loop amplifier ILA-450 was used here.
Gooseneck microphones “MEG” and “MEX” from Phoenix were used on the ambo, priest’s seat and altar.
The Phoenix team, which has specialized in church sound systems for over 20 years, also took on the measurement, leveling, room equalization and programming of the new sound system.
