Project description
Church PA
In March 2023, the Église de Vésenaz church in Vésenaz near Geneva (Switzerland), built at the end of the 19th century, was equipped with a new sound system from PHOENIX Professional Audio:
For the main sound system in the nave, digital modular sound columns DIGIVOICE-145.16DSP2 with 16-channel DSP and Beam Steering technology were installed. The “DIGIVOICE” digital loudspeaker systems from Phoenix Professional Audio were developed to significantly reduce the number of loudspeakers required for even sound coverage in church spaces. For example, only two DIGIVOICE-145.16DSP2 digital sound columns were needed to provide sound for the large nave in the church in Vésenaz. The loudspeakers, which were specially developed for sound transmission in acoustically demanding rooms, use the so-called beam steering, which enables real-time, continuous electronic control of the sound opening angle and tilt angle in the vertical direction – completely without mechanical alignment of the loudspeakers (no tilt necessary). This means that the digital DIGIVOICE sound columns can be positioned particularly unobtrusively in the church space and, despite the long reverberation in churches, ensure the highest level of speech intelligibility during sermons and readings and an outstanding music performance during choir singing and concerts.
The DIGIVOICE line arrays are powered by the DSP-controlled Digital automatic mixing amplifier POWERVOICE PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X. The automatic mixer is equipped with two Class-D digital power amplifiers, phantom power, HPF filter (100Hz), MIC-LINE, digital automatic system, audio matrix, conference configuration / priority, dynamic Compressor-Expander-Limiter function, DeEsser and MP3 player with BT receiver.
A WM-400DT digital power amplifier (400W sinus/100V output and EQ) was also installed – for driving the K4-80F gallery speakers.
The outdoor area is soundproofed by three K6.5-75IP speakers with water barrier (75 W/100V) and protection class IP65. The weatherproof loudspeaker system in the aluminum housing uses a two-way system (frequency division on the passive crossover) and delivers high-quality speech and music reproduction. They are ideal for sound reinforcement in outdoor and indoor areas.
The delicate MEG and MEX gooseneck microphones on the ambo and on the altar blend in with the elegant church interior architecture and ensure perfect speech reproduction thanks to an extremely straight frequency response.
A “MIPRO” brand radio system was also installed for flexible use with great freedom of movement. MIPRO’s high-quality wireless systems offer above-average RF performance and exceptional sound quality.
