Project description
Church PA
In March 2023, the sound system of the Église Saint-Jean XXIII church in Geneva (Switzerland) was renewed and modernized in terms of sound technology using new audio technology from PHOENIX Professional Audio:
A professional passive directional sound column K4-60F was used for monitoring. Phoenix’s K4 loudspeaker systems are particularly characterized by their natural and balanced sound quality. The slim loudspeakers are a combination of highly efficient neodymium tweeter spherical dome systems in the HF frequency range with high sound pressure and specially spaced 3.5″ ferrite broadband chassis in the LF/MF frequency range. The frequency-independent directional sound radiation is only limited to the listening area and delivers the highest acoustic natural speech reproduction.
The loudspeaker is powered by the DSP-controlled digital automatic mixer amplifier POWERVOICE PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X. The automatic mixer is equipped with two Class-D digital power amplifiers, phantom power, HPF filter (100Hz), MIC-LINE, digital automatic system, audio matrix, Conference configuration / priority, dynamic Compressor-Expander-Limiter function, DeEsser and MP3 player with BT receiver.
The elegant MEG and MEX gooseneck microphones from Phoenix on the ambo and on the altar are particularly characterized by an extremely straight frequency response and very high rear attenuation. The transmission range from 30 Hz to 18 kHz and the hypercardioid directional characteristic with the field-idle transmission factor of 16 mV/Pa. (0 dB) demonstrate a high technical level. Another brilliant feature is the thin (6 mm) gooseneck with metal microphone head, which makes the microphones appear particularly unobtrusive in the church setting. This contains a filter for the effective suppression of popping noises.
After carrying out an acoustic measurement and system leveling on site, the newly installed sound system in the St Jean XXIII church now ensures the highest level of speech intelligibility during sermons and readings and a first-class music performance during choir singing and concerts.
