Project description
Church PA
In March 2023, the neo-Gothic Église St-Antoine de Padoue church in Geneva (Switzerland) was equipped with a new digital DSP automatic preamplifier and a new microphone system from PHOENIX Professional Audio:
The AMX-9DSP4-ACD preamplifier used in the church is a digital automatic preamplifier with numerous high-quality technical features, such as a Compressor-Expander-Limiter function. The digital preamplifier is specially developed for professional sound reinforcement tasks in acoustically demanding buildings (building acoustics). The preamp is used where most other devices do not produce positive results or where an entire rack of system components would have to be set up to achieve a reasonable acoustic result.
The 8 universal inputs can be switched between MIC and LINE sensitivity using DIP switches. Each of the inputs has switchable phantom power and an HPF filter (100 Hz). The universal inputs are equipped with a switchable automatic microphone system, DIGITAL SIGNAL DELAY FIELD system (DSDF). The release of all microphones being spoken to takes place automatically and is controlled and monitored by the processor system (DSDF).
The MP3 player with BT receiver built into the AMX-9DSP4-ACD as standard supports all common Bluetooth-enabled devices and enables music or pre-written texts to be transferred wirelessly from a mobile phone, PC or MP3 player to the amplifier and played back.
The MEG / MEX series electret gooseneck microphones used in the church are very unobtrusive thanks to their reflection-free surface and are therefore ideal as altar and ambo microphones in churches. All models are equipped with a click-free switch (ON/OFF) and an LED operating display. The microphone series also has an extremely straight frequency response and a very high rear attenuation.
After carrying out an acoustic measurement and system level adjustment on site, the newly installed sound system in the Geneva church of St-Antoine de Padoue ensures maximum speech intelligibility during sermons and readings and first-class music reproduction during choir singing and concerts.
