Digital sound reinforcement in the gallery
with Beam steering technology
In spring 2022, the municipal gallery in Ostfildern (Baden-Württemberg) was equipped with a new sound system. The team from PHOENIX Professional Audio was involved in the installation, leveling and calibration of the new PA system and contributed its own audio technology (own brand Phoenix Professional Audio) as well as radio systems from the MIPRO brand (Phoenix is the official sales partner) to the project.
The gallery is sound-reinforced by a digital speaker DIGIVOICE-75.8DSP2 installed next to the entrance door. The DIGIVOICE digital DSP line array systems from Phoenix Professional Audio were developed for acoustically demanding rooms in order to significantly reduce the number of loudspeakers required for even sound coverage. For example, only a single digital sound column was necessary to provide sound in the gallery room. The reason for this is in particular the “Beam Steering” technology used in the loudspeakers, which enables continuous electronic control of the sound opening angle and tilt angle in the vertical direction in real time – completely without mechanical alignment of the loudspeaker systems (tilt). This not only made it possible to position the loudspeaker particularly unobtrusively in the room. Beam steering technology also ensures a particularly homogeneous distribution of the sound with a minimum of sound reflections, whereby the DIGIVOICE Line Array contributes significantly to reverberation reduction in the reverberant room.
The digital line array is powered by the digital pre-amp mixer AMX-9-DSP4-ACD. The automatic preamplifier used in the art gallery has 8 universal inputs on XLR (MIC/LINE via DIP switch), an MP3 player with BT receiver, 10 input and 5 output PEQ, audio matrix, de-esser, delays, feedback limiter, compressor-expander-limiter function and numerous other technical features. The automatic preamplifier was specially developed for professional sound reinforcement tasks in acoustically complex buildings (building acoustics).
A new wireless microphone system from the “MIPRO” brand also ensures flexibility and maximum freedom of movement, e.g. during lectures at art exhibitions in the municipal gallery.
The mixers were installed in a 19″ wall housing in the adjoining room of the gallery.
The Phoenix Professional Audio team also took care of the assembly and installation as well as the acoustic measurement and system leveling on site.
