Project description
Church PA
In May 2024, the St. Vitus Parish Church in Frommenhausen / Rottenburg am Neckar (built in 1770/1772) in Baden-Wuerttemberg was equipped with a new sound system from PHOENIX Professional Audio.
The professional passive directional column speakers K4-40F, K4-60F, and K4-100F were installed for the main sound system in the nave. The K4 column speakers are specially designed for sound transmission in acoustically challenging spaces with long reverberation times, such as churches. The housing, made of specially shaped aluminum profiles and a light powder coating, is particularly stable and unobtrusive in design.
The K4 column speakers thus blend seamlessly into the late Baroque interior of St. Vitus Church without altering the style and aesthetics of the sacral building. In addition to its attractive design, the K4 series also offers a high level of technical excellence: The slim speaker columns, whose frequency-independent directional sound radiation is limited to the audience area, ensure the best speech reproduction during sermons and readings and full musical enjoyment with optimal sound quality during choir singing and concerts.
The sound columns in St. Vitus Church are powered by the DSP-controlled POWERVOICE PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X digital automatic mixing amplifier. The automatic mixer is equipped with two Class-D digital power amplifiers, phantom power, a HPF filter (100 Hz), a MIC LINE, a digital automatic system, an audio matrix, conference configuration/priority, a dynamic compressor-expander-limiter function, a de-esser, and an MP3 player with a BT receiver.
The MEG and MEX gooseneck microphones on the ambo, altar, and pulpit ensure perfect speech reproduction thanks to an extremely linear frequency response. Thanks to their delicate appearance, they also blend almost completely with the church’s elegant interior architecture.
For flexible use with great freedom of movement, a MIPRO wireless system was also installed. MIPRO’s high-quality wireless systems offer above-average RF performance and exceptional sound quality.
After the Phoenix PA team had leveled and acoustically measured the system, the new sound system achieved a significant acoustic improvement in the church: The result is optimal speech intelligibility and excellent sound – even in the most remote corners of the church.
