Inauguration of the restored church on 22 November 2022
Project description
New Church Sound System
After a renovation period of over 3 years, the St. Andreas parish church in Baierbach was reopened with a festive service on 22 November 2022.
The team from Phoenix Professional Audio implemented the entire acoustics and sound concept during the renovation work. Using digital sound technology, the church’s sound system was renewed and its sound technology was modernized. The church was also equipped with new, modern LED hymn boards.
The digital speaker systems “DIGIVOICE” from Phoenix Professional Audio, which were installed in the Baierbach church, were developed to significantly reduce the number of loudspeakers required for uniform sound coverage in church spaces. To provide sound for the large nave, only a single digital sound column DIGIVOICE-145.16DSP2 with DSP and Beam Steering Technology (electronic control of the speaker’s vertical radiation angle) was necessary. Despite the long reverberation in the church, the controllable digital line array ensures maximum speech intelligibility during sermons and readings and an outstanding music performance during choir singing, concerts, etc.
The digital line array is powered by the DSP-controlled digital automatic mixer amplifier POWERVOICE PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X. The automatic mixer is equipped with first-class technical features such as two Class-D digital power amplifiers, phantom power, HPF filter (100Hz), MIC-LINE, digital automatic system, audio matrix, conference configuration / priority, dynamic Compressor-Expander-Limiter function, DeEsser and MP3 player with BT receiver. It is specially developed for use in acoustically demanding buildings (building acoustics).
In addition to the use of new MEG and MEX gooseneck microphones for the ambo, altar and priest’s seat, a MIPRO wireless microphone system was also installed for flexible use and complete freedom of movement during services.
New hymn boards with LED from the “HYMN” series were also installed in the church: The main display HYMN-1-140-APP is a 2-line LED hymn board with a reading distance of 50-55m. Operation is via tablet/software including app & accessories (full version). The smaller LED hymn board HYMN-1-40 was also used as a choir display.
The high-resolution LED matrix integrated in the HYMN hymn boards from Phoenix ensures excellent readability, even from a long distance. A special surface technology prevents any reflections. Even lamps or light-flooded rooms do not affect readability.
The portable 2-channel sound system MA-505R2 from “MIPRO” with 2-way loudspeaker and Bluetooth interface was used to provide sound in the cemetery. Thanks to the double radio receiver and the option of alternatively mounting the mobile loudspeaker system on a tripod, the system enables particularly flexible use, both indoors and outdoors.
The Phoenix team, which has specialized in church sound systems for over 20 years, also took on the measurement, leveling, room equalization and programming of the new sound system.
