Festive Reopening
Consecration of the renovated church on 10 November 2019
by Cardinal Marx
Project description
Church PA
After years of renovation, the St. Ulrich church in Vilslern, Velden was reopened on Sunday, November 10, 2019 as part of a ceremonial altar consecration with Cardinal Marx.
The acoustic and sound reinforcement concept was implemented in 2019 by the Phoenix Professional Audio team. During the extensive renovation, the entire sound system of the church was renewed and the sound technology modernized through the use of digital sound reinforcement technology.
The aim was to achieve high speech intelligibility in all seats and excellent music reproduction with a powerful and flexible sound reinforcement system despite the long reverberation in the church.
The digital sound columns DIGIVOICE-115.8DSP2 with DSP and Beam Steering Technology (electronic controllability of the vertical radiation angle of the loudspeaker) integrated in the nave, together with the digital automatic mixing amplifier PV-DSP-4ACD.9.4.2X, which is specially designed for the sound transmission in acoustic difficult rooms with complex acoustics and long reverberation times, such as churches, in the freshly renovated church to ensure that sermons and readings are particularly easy to understand and that an excellent music performance is achieved during the service (choral singing, concerts, etc.).
Slim but effective column speakers from the K1 and K4 series were installed on the gallery and for altar monitoring.
As part of the new public address system, in addition to the new hearing loop amplifier ILA-450, there is also a MIPRO radio microphone system with omnidirectional antennas for flexible use and complete freedom of movement during church services, gallery microphones for choir and instrument recording, TAB-LED-100 hymn board with LED lighting and numerous other high-quality audio components from Phoenix PA have been used.
The elegant, black and barely visible MEGZ-5GS microphone stand system with ground socket was installed at the ambo, which almost completely merges with the magnificent church interior design thanks to its extraordinarily filigree appearance.
The team from Phoenix Professional Audio also took care of the assembly/installation as well as the acoustic measurement and system level adjustment on site.
At the reopening of the church in Vilslern, numerous worshipers were able to enjoy a first linguistic and musical taste of the new sound system during the inauguration of the restored church by Cardinal Marx with a ceremonial performance by the choir.
Fig.: Active DSP Beam Steering Line Arrays DIGIVOICE – State-of-the-art beam steering technology enables the St. Ulrich church to be continuously electronically controlled in real time in terms of the angle of aperture and the angle of inclination in the vertical direction, without any mechanical alignment of the loudspeaker systems (tilting).
